Distrify x oemsecrets: how distributors list stock on oemsecrets

Distrify and oemsecrets work together. Here is how a distributor gets its stock onto oemsecrets, and what buyers see once it is there.

In short
  • oemsecrets compares stock and prices from over 140 distributors for more than 40 million parts.
  • To be listed you need four fields per part: part number, manufacturer, stock and a link to your page.
  • One feed puts your parts in the comparison, the BoM tool, the API and on manufacturer websites.

oemsecrets is a comparison engine for electronic components. Buyers and engineers search a part and see stock and prices from many distributors side by side. To be in that list, you send oemsecrets a feed of your stock. It needs only four fields per part. Distrify is an official partner for that feed.

What is oemsecrets?

It is a free search for parts, with your offer next to everyone else's. The buyer types a part number and sees who has it, how many and at what price.

According to oemsecrets, it covers over 140 distributors and more than 40 million parts. Buyers use it for free. Each result links to the distributor's own page, where the buyer orders or asks for a quote.

Where do buyers see your stock?

In four places, from one feed. oemsecrets shows listed stock in its comparison engine, BoM tool, Part Search API and Stock Finder plugins.

  • The comparison engine: one part, all offers.
  • The BoM tool: a buyer uploads a whole parts list and sees offers for every line.
  • The Part Search API: other tools pull the same data into their own software.
  • Stock Finder: manufacturers show distributor stock on their own product pages.

The last one matters for franchised distributors. Manufacturers such as Nordic Semiconductor, TE Connectivity, Molex and Samtec use Stock Finder on their websites. An engineer reads the datasheet and sees right there who has the part in stock.

What do you need to send?

Four fields per part. oemsecrets asks for the manufacturer part number, the manufacturer, the quantity in stock and a link to your product or RFQ page.

Prices are optional. But oemsecrets says volume pricing "greatly increases conversions". A buyer who sees a price for 1,000 pieces can decide on the spot. A buyer who sees only stock has to ask first.

Packaging, minimum order quantity and lead time are optional fields too. Send them if you have them. They answer the next question before the buyer asks it.

How does your stock get there?

As a file or as a live connection. oemsecrets takes a daily file by FTP or SFTP, a download link or API, or an email attachment.

From your ERP to the buyer
  1. Stock and prices leave your ERP as a feed
  2. oemsecrets updates your listing
  3. Buyer finds the part in the comparison or BoM tool
  4. Buyer lands on your product or RFQ page

Most distributors have the data in their ERP already. The work is getting it out every day, in the right format, without anyone doing it by hand. A file someone exports on Monday is out of date by Wednesday. Then a buyer clicks, finds no stock, and does not come back.

That is why oemsecrets names Distrify as its partner for this step. Distrify turns ERP and Excel data into a live feed, so the stock on oemsecrets matches the stock in your warehouse.

Can you stand out beyond the list?

Yes, with paid placements. oemsecrets sells banners above and below the result tables, sponsored positions higher in the results, and badges for an offer or discount next to your result.

Start with a clean listing first. A banner sends buyers to your result. If the stock there is stale, the banner pays for a bad first impression.

What should you do first?

Check how you look today. It takes ten minutes:

  1. Search five of your best-selling part numbers on oemsecrets.
  2. Note whether you appear, and with which stock and price.
  3. Compare that with your ERP right now.

If you are missing or out of date, the feed is the first thing to fix.

At Distrify we connect distributors to oemsecrets and other comparison sites as part of our marketplace connector. Your stock then goes out every day from your ERP, with the prices you choose to show.

Questions

What distributors ask about this.

Listing is a paid service for distributors; buyers search for free. oemsecrets publishes its terms in its media pack, so ask them for the current offer.

Yes. oemsecrets lists both authorised and independent stock. Your result links to your own product or RFQ page.

No. Part number, manufacturer, stock and a link are enough. Prices, especially for volume breaks, help buyers decide faster.

At least daily. Stale stock leads to clicks that end in an empty page, which costs you more trust than not being listed.
